AARP Caregiving Interesting site with current articles, financial calculators, an advice columnist, and an opportunity to join AARP

Administration on Aging (US Government) The US Government’s official website for aging news and resources. Provides census data, aging statistics, current news, and outlines government programs for the elderly.

Adult Daycare A website for helping to locate adult day care options, city-by-city.  Also includes some good general information about caring for aging adults in a blog (How to Pick the Best Adult Daycare for Your Loved One, Finding a Family Support Group, etc.)  Some advertising on the blog.

The AgeNet Eldercare Network This network dedicated to providing general information and products for the aging. Topics and products include health, drugs, legal, insurance, financial, and caregiving matters.

AlzOnline: Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Online An online support and reference site for those who care for loved ones with Alzheimer’s. Has interesting tip sheets on nutrition, grooming, bathing, medication, traveling, safety, finding hospital services,  and coping with grief. Available in English or Spanish.

Benefits CheckUp Very helpful site for those who are disabled and wondering if they are eligible for benefits. Just answer a series of questions to find out if you or your loved one is eligible for prescription assistance, health care, food stamps (now called the SNAP program), utilities assistance, and other benefits. The website has helped 2 million people find $7.1 billion in assistance. The site is also in a large, easy to read font.

Caregiver Resource Network A website designed to provide assistance and resources to caregivers. Look under Resources for handy PDFs on a variety of subjects, including facts caregivers should know, financial FAQs, legal issues, and health and wellness topics. The site is thoughtfully designed for those with vision problems, with an option to increase or decrease the font on each page.

Family Caregiver Alliance: National Center on Caregiving Very helpful site with fact sheets, discussion groups, thoughtful articles, newsletters, caregiving FAQs, and links to workshops and teleconferences.

Family Caregiving 101 Provides great information and advice for new and experienced caregivers. The “Top 10 Questions” outlines certain caregiving scenarios and is particularly helpful to those who are new to the caregiving role. There are also sections on how to cope while caregiving, taking care of one’s self, and finding more resources.

Find Caregiving Resources Select a topic and get a list of resources to better inform yourself on the topic. There’s everything from advocacy to spirituality. Provides websites, books, and media links and reviews.

Full Circle of CareSite contains articles on family caregiving, independent living, long term care, paying for care, and a full section devoted to Alzheimer’s and dementia. However, navigating the links on the left may be difficult for some users.

Full Circle of Care List of Phone Numbers by State:  Provides phone numbers for aging networks in every state.

National Alliance for Caregiving A coalition of caregiving services, this non-profit site puts together brochures, events, publications, and other helpful links.

Strength for Caring User-friendly site that has great articles about providing care to loved ones as well as keeping yourself healthy. Even offers a free iPhone caregiving application, Care Connector, for download.

Today’s Caregiver Publishers of the bi-monthly magazine, the Today’s Caregiver website is a network of resources for those who are caring for loved ones. Some of the highlights include recipes, articles on everything from Alzheimer’s to schizophrenia, updates on conferences, and newsletters. Fans can also purchase a subscription to the magazine online.

Centers for Independent Living

Excellent resource for people living with disabilities, the center provides information and referral, independent living training, peer support, benefit counseling, and more!

Aging and Disability Resource Centers

Each county has an Aging and Disability Resource Center.  Staff there help find information for people affected by aging or disabilities and their caregivers.  Call them for information about benefits , caregiver support groups, nutrition programs, transportation programs, options for long term care, and help finding the resources you need.

Alzheimer’s Association –Greater Wisconsin Chapter

Look here for tips on living with Alzheimer’s Disease, online message boards with other caregivers or people suffering from Alzheimer’s, and other resources.  For finding support groups, contact local offices
