This year the Chippewa Valley Book Festival is launching a new project:

The Chippewa Valley Reads…!

This event is designed to bring people of all ages together through the joy of reading and discussing books by a renowned author. This year’s author is Newbery and Printz Honor-winning Gary D. Schmidt, whose novels include Trouble, The Wednesday Wars, and Lizzie Bright and the Buckminster Boy.

The Chippewa Valley Reads . . .Gary D. Schmidt! will culminate in an author presentation and book signing on Saturday, October 23, 2010 at 10:00 am during the Chippewa Valley Book Festival.

This would be a great opportunity get get the families in your communities involved in reading the same books together, and talking about them. Look for an announcement, coming soon, about a blog to give you suggestions for discussion questions and other tidbits.

In the meantime, check out the information about Gary D. Schmidt and his books that Teaching Books pulled together!
