Okay, that is a dorky title. We all know there are great opportunities for learning at the library, I certainly don’t need to sell you on that! But I wanted to draw your attention to a few programs that will be held at the L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library to mark their One Book, One Community program. A few of the sessions look especially relevant to librarians, especially given some of the challenges I have heard you are dealing with.
More Than Meth: A Town Hall Meeting
Monday, April 9, 6-7:30 pm at the library
The Eau Claire Police Department, with members of the Eau Claire County Methamphetamine Response Committee, will share information on the highly addictive drug.
Adverse Childhood Experiences: Translating Evidence into Action
Saturday, April 14, 1-2:30 pm at the library
Decades of research has shown that adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), including abuse, neglect, and household dysfunction, are among the strongest environmental predictors of poor mental and physical health. This program will summarize the science of ACEs as a prelude to exploring how to translate the evidence into practices and policies that promote health and well-being.
