Keeping Up With Kids

After several years of declining Summer Library Program in Spring Valley, new director Elizabeth Steans and her fabulous staff are making up for lost time!  School visits, lots of talk, fun programs, and inviting decorations all added to the increased participation.  At last report, there were 76 kids (ranging in age from 2-13) registered for the Summer Library Program, a developing Teen Advisory Board meeting this summer, and even a program for adults!  After no program at all last year, these are encouraging and impressive numbers, doncha think??

Like in many libraries this summer, there is an inviting cave in the library:

And a whopping 55 attendees enjoyed an ice cream social to kick off the summer library program–hooray for board members and volunteers helping to pull off an event like this:
